I consider myself to be a pretty solid shooter. I am a professional firearms instructor who earned an IDPA Master rating about four years ago. I am very active in the field of protective services, and spend just enough time shooting competitively in the Dallas area to continually prove to myself that my skills have not declined over the years, typically placing in the top five in area tactical matches.

To that end, you can imagine my surprise to find out that my handgun shooting skills have noticeably improved as a result of attending your Tactical Speed Shooting course in February, 2003. You identified and corrected two flaws that I was making that improved my shooting significantly once I performed enough reps to imbed those changes into my grip and trigger management.

Even the best athletes in the world have coaches.

Thanks, coach.

In the past several months, I have taken both the ‘Tactical Speed Shooting’ and the ‘Close Quarters Tactics’ courses from the Praesidium Group. I am a martial arts instructor and have shot firearms most of my life, but the training I have received from Mike Brown and his instructors has revolutionized my shooting and my approach to combat in virtually every respect. I cannot begin to express the practical benefits I have received from training with these guys. ‘Tactical Speed Shooting’ will give the student a whole new level of confidence, speed, and accuracy. The problem solving and real world scenarios in the ‘Close Quarters Tactics’ course takes the student out of the two dimensional domain and confronts him with the ugly 3D reality. Everyone who carries a weapon for self-defense should consider taking advantage of the Praesidium Group. Each instructor teaches superbly from a rich experience base and every exercise yields solid practical experience and knowledge. What you learn from Mike and Company is not theoretical mumbo jumbo. It could literally save your life and the life of your family.

As a martial artist concerned with being ready for all ranges of combat, professional firearms training was a realistic evolution in my path. I have trained with some prominent instructors with negligible results; that changed when I came under the tutelage of Mike Brown. Mike not only knows how to shoot, he knows how to teach. He has a methodical and concise method of instruction that works. The triad of Tactics, Mindset and Technique are the balance that every warrior needs to excel in their martial training. He helped me move from Sharpshooter to Master Class in IDPA classification in just over a month.

I am an experienced shooter with over 20 years of gun handling. I started hunting with my dad when I was ten. I was on a rifle team when I was in high school. I was a U.S.A.F. Security Police Officer when I was nineteen. I qualified expert on the 92FS Beretta, M16, M203, and the M60. I have been in Law Enforcement for over eight years. I have attended two separate police academies and I was a member of my previous agency’s S.W.A.T. team. Out of all that training, I learned more about shooting a handgun from Mike Brown in two days, than from all the prior training combined. After his class, I shot 100% on the state pistol qualification course for the first time in my career. Mike has a natural knack for teaching and a true love for firearms training. Whether you are an inexperienced shooter or an “old Pro,” I give Mike Brown and The Praesidium Group my highest recommendation.

I have always been a marginal shooter at best. Mike helped me informally a few times. But it wasn't until I took his 2-day shooting course that I received intense instruction and really learned to improve my technique. I am anxious to return to our department's range under a timed atmosphere to see how my scores have improved!
