“You’re Never Good Enough”

To expect to be able to shoot effectively under stress is unrealistic for the average police officer. Most cops have to think about what to do when it comes to qualification day. Qualification is the bureaucrat’s synonym for “Good Enough.” Considering the soft requirements of most police “qualification” courses, America’s cops are hardly qualified if they strive for the minimum passing score.

I have heard other instructors offer what they believe to be an acceptable level of combat shooting skill. Let me put down that myth right now. Such a level does not exist! No one is ever “Good Enough” to win a gunfight. If you think your dog is big and bad enough to win a fight, don’t be surprised when a bigger and badder dog is staring at him like lunch.

When the day comes that I stop going to the range or the gym because I decide I’m “Good Enough” to win, I’ll know its time to hang up my gun belt and body armor.

Warriors are NEVER good enough.

Stay Safe,
